Gifts of Hope
One of our core values at RSVP is to help the poor. You will see on this website some long-term development projects like the House of Mercy and Child Sponsorship. These things make a big difference over a period of time.
Some years ago, Don Egan travelled up country to a village in Rwanda. He met people who don’t have time. They are starving now. They are dying of AIDS now. They are sleeping on the dirt floor now.
Their poverty is so acute they needed emergency help right away. We couldn’t solve all their problems but we wanted to give them something that would give them some hope.
We drove to the market and bought some food and mattresses and bedding. Then we went back to the poor and hungry and gave them what they needed. So our Gifts of Hope ministry was born.
Thanks to the generosity of our partners and supporters, we have been able to distribute food and bedding to those in extreme poverty during every mission trip for several years now.
