Be one in a million!
We are gathering a special group of people who will change the world with £1.
In 1994, Rwanda suffered one of history's most horrific genocides. 1,000,000 people died in just 100 days of hell on earth. Memorials to the dead have been erected across the nation of Rwanda including Kigali Memorial Centre. These centres all look to the past and remember those who died. They are part of the recovery process.
As AIDS wipes out thousands of adults, it has been called 'the silent genocide'.
Today in Rwanda, there is an urgent need for a new centre. A centre that looks to Rwanda's future. A centre that inspires and equips people who have been wounded, broken and traumatised. A centre that will be a father to the fatherless and a mother to infants abandoned in the world. Kigali Dream Centre will be such a place of hope. The Dream Centre project will cost £1million.
Today we are launching an appeal for £1,000,000 - that's £1 for every man woman and child who died in the genocide. In 1994, when Rwanda cried to the world for help, no one came and the UN withdrew its troops.
Today, the people of Rwanda are calling for help again. Can you give just £1 to remember someone who died in the genocide? Or perhaps you want to give £10 to remember a whole family? Or perhaps a larger gift? Any amount, however small or large will really help.
