welcome to Ali's space
Hi, I'm Alison Fenning and I've been working for The RSVP Trust since 2003. I share the RSVP vision which is to: preach the gospel, teach disciples, and help the poor. Most of my work is done in the UK but I also get to travel to Africa, America and a few other cool places too.
Rwanda with Richard...
FEB 2007| Rwanda
Richard and I went to Rwanda earlier this year. We toured the country preaching and teaching to various groups.
We spent most of the time in the capital city Kigali, but also travelled to rural areas too.
One of the things about RSVP is that we believe in preaching good news and being good news. One of the ways we do this is to always couple our Gifts of Hope program with our speaking programs when we are in Africa.
Gifts of Hope is a project which meets urgent needs. Most of our projects are development projects - like helping to build a school and an orphanage, or our child sponsorship scheme.
But some people can't wait for long term development. They are dying now. They are starving now. Some of them have AIDS. What they need is food... today. What they need is a mattress to sleep on... today. These and many other urgent needs are met by our partners who give to our Gifts of Hope fund.
Ipswich Project
Ongoing|
In 2005, I set up a ministry to reach women involved in prostitution in Ipswich. We have a small team who meet the women on the streets and offer friendship, prayer and support. Our hope is that each of the women will have a personal encounter with Jesus and allow him to transform their life.
During the period when five of the women were murder in Ipswich, we were there offer support to the women and took part in a joint agency program to patrol the streets regularly for people's safety.
